Heh, if I had fake claimed eavesdropper, I would post invented snippets in Jane Austen language and indicate that I thought they were taken at random but Austenated before they got to me. I was thinking I'd post it all backwards. It was a posting restriction Metallic once got and it was really fun. The most impressive was that a lot of player actually just wrote them. They didn't have to "translate" at all. Very impressive!!

Captain is really hurting his team with his snipped bit of information. He seems to be getting both Ed and bufftabby in trouble based on the things from the scum-thread...
Right now I'll say Town's going to win this one.

Buff has made an error here. Her argument (Yeah, sure, we're all speaking in Klingon/Romulan) effectively busses Captain as scum, yet she votes Locked .

Yup - as I said originally, the chances of the eavesdropper getting useful information is slim -- each time Cap posts "useful" info it becomes more and more likely that he is lying.

Well, the star trek thing would implicate him even if the snippets were useless translated gobbledygook, as it is so unlikely that random snippets would be the very bits that were in klingon/romulan. That's the argument buff is making against locked, but she hasn't realised that the conclusion of that post for a Town player would be to vote Captain, not Locked.

I'd still like to design a similar role someday. But as it was in Ragnarok it didn't work perfectly. That being said, when discussing it you also have to remember that is was made after we decided to turn all vanilla-town into small almost non-powerful power-roles. Some of them became rather silly, I'll admit!! The way I think it could work in the future could be that random.org picked the scum-player that would be quoted, but the mods pick the post. The problem would be to keep it fair and balanced.

She actually didn't vote Locked for the comment from the scum-thread. It was a "out-of-game" vote for him quoting her from a non-mafia-thread. I do understand why she's upset. The comments seems wwwaaayyyy of to me as well. It's just not "kosher" to bring out-of-game into game like that.

I understand her upset too. I just think that her post outs captain and possibly herself to Town. I know it's hard to be very strategic when you're annoyed, I've slipped a little at times through that but got away with it.

Well to look at it from the other side...when the klingon post appeared - Cap and Ed immediately sprang to mind as the most likely cuplrits.

I so love this comment of his: For what it's worth I feel that if someone is going to be "meta gamey" it they should at least only use game related stuff rather than trawling the net to see what they can drag up... Though if he does carry on playing mafia games... then we know we have someone who will dig deep.

Ulla told me not to worry about the game, that it would be balanced no matter which side I chose. I thought the 4 masons were created when I joined the Scum. Now, I think she made you guys powerless. Nothing you've done that should have worked has worked. That would be gastard! I'll slap him with a wet trout when he gets here. Then I'll spank him (and he'll know what comes after that!!!). However... to do what he suggest would be bad modding IMO. So I wish he didn't think I'd do that...

Just a side note, I notice nphase has mentioned that ed has a very definite scum tell. I think everyone probably does, however there are only a couple of people that I know what their scum tells are. Ed, peeker and nphase are the ones that spring to my mind.

I didn't now that. But I bet you're not going to share them with me The only player I can see scum-tells in is Shaggy and he hasn't played for a while. And quite often those tells were because he was Town Power trying to fly under the radar.

Dang Skeez, now I wanna know what it is. *contemplates the fingernail pincers* ...
There's a couple besides Ed I think I have a decent grip on, but his is by far the most specific.
I'm almost as proud of my ability to find certain players town as I am to find others scum -- in this game, for instance, calling it correctly (by the time I died) on difficult-to-read players like Zeener and moody. Also getting it right on Locked by the end.
Squink has me baffled, though. If I were still playing, I'd be swearing she's scum.

Also, Duvsie's result on bufftabby should pretty much seal it for the town. With four scum down and the game still going, plus Moody's flip ... Ed's not long for this world.
Yay!

I agree. Duvsie did well there. Not only to say she would look at Ed (and he's really hoping for that) but then to pick bufftabby as well.
They can still change their mind about blocking Moody. But I don't think they will. So that's pretty much that...
I can't see Town lose this one.

Me either. And I had missed duvsie's misdirection, but wow, that was a nice play. Can't often fake out the scum like that (and with such a perfect result), but she did it beautifully.

Mitch just asked me: IF Special Ed is telling the truth about his power.... and he chose to protect DUVSIE tonight.
If I protected her to. Would ED still die if she were targeted?I answered: I can't really comment on what others can do or not do.
But I can tell you, that your PM says: "be safe from all actions against the player".
So all actions targeting the player you target would not be counted/happen.
Do that make sense?
I'm not sure if I made the right decision here. Being a single-mod can be hard

I think it's fine, Ulla. As general policy "don't discuss other people's powers or power claims, PERIOD" is as close to fail-safe as it gets.

Thanks.
I didn't want to seem gastard. But it's not always easy to figure what to say and what not to.
I'm going to shorten the Days. By one RL-day.
To make the game moved forward and not stall close to end. I've seen it happen before and this seems a good way to speed it up a bit towards the end.

Flax: With the death of captain, I'm concerned about the fact that, to our knowledge, Duvsie was never redirected. Actually we never heard of anyone redirected?
Does this mean captain posted some real information from the scum thread? I think its more likely he posted partially true information, but it bears thinking about.
Not now, Flaxy -- you have the game won, now just take it to the bank! Hehe.

Looks like Team Scum might let have Town have the win (they wanted to know if that would hurt a PFK).
So I guess the game is... almost... over.
Now I need to know where I made mistakes as a mod. Because I am so ready to make yet another game ;D
