The idea is to have 4 teams (based on the four houses: Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Gryffindor).
There will be a certain end to the game (depending on the number of players) and by that time the team with most points will win the dorm-cup (or what ever it's called in English. Have to look that up). I did - it's called the House Cup.
Anyway points will be given for:
Voting on a player from a different team (+5) Being part of lynching a player from a different team (+5) Unvoting a player from a different team (-5) Voting a player from your own team (-5) Lynching a player from you own team (-10) Unvoting a player from you own team (+3)
For each member of the team still alive at the end (+15)
I'll run it as a mini and see if it can be adjusted later to a "real" game. So far I'm just playing with ideas. First addition will be with the players not knowing who's on what team. Later I might try it with the teams able to communicate somehow.
Also I'm thinking that if you lynch all players on one team, I need to figure out what should become of the points the team had. Should they just go away or should they be given to the remaining teams? Or to the players voting for the lynch?

I'd like to start off with all players being vanilla. Once I've seen how that goes, it could be fun to have an investigator or protecter on all teams.
However to start with, I'm thinking 12 players. No NK - only lynches. I want more that one team alive at the end, so if we have 7 lynches, that would leave us with 5 players alive at the end of the school-year.
So to start the game would be: September - 1. lynch November - 2. lynch December - Christmas-break (no lynch) Januar - 3. lynch February - 4. lynch March - 5. lynch April - 6. lynch May - 7. lynch June - exam and the results will be revealed.
The players will be informed about the schedule before the game begins and all so the set up (in the sign-up thread).

Second time around I'm wondering if I should have a question asker on every team. That could be kind of cool.

wow, very interesting.
So the game play is basically trying to reveal yourself to your teammates without revealing yourself to your enemies?
hmm.
And reveals will include Team?

I know it will be easier for people who played together before - but wits will also make it possible to hint stuff without going public. Yes, lynched will lead to full reveal (team and role-name - the first game will be all vanillas... but maybe in later games some players will have powers as well)

Not sure how I can help balance though.
Although, looking at it, What if you made it +5 for voting for a member of another team and -6 for unvoting them.
It'll add a little more thought into the unvoting process, and a little more costly.

or maybe make the vote worth less as we get closer to the deadline? See - you could help me!! I'm a bit scared if I made the points unfair somehow - so I really like this idea. Every "Day" would start with me telling players what the points for the Day is. Not making it up as we go - but figuring it out before the game begins!

I'm going to set it up as a mini on idlemafia.com - but I better wait until one of my other games had ended. Also the sign-ups for halloween mafia seems to be going kind of slow. I don't want to draw attention form it. But as soon as that game is on it's way... I can't wait!!! I hope you'll join my in the spoilers and help me evaluate on the points for next time

Well, the Halloween game really isn't a mini. I'm not sure why it's in the mini forum.
And, of course, I'll watch the game spoiled. It sounds very interesting.
I thought of another mechanic you might want to include at some point. The players vote publicly, but they can maybe spend a point or two to change their vote privately. If that makes sense.
I wouldn't use it right away, however. Or it could even be a power for some players maybe

It's going to be called "It's a kind of magic".

Do you think I should reveal the points at Christmas-break (after two lynches). Giving the players some indication at what's going on?

No. It will just be a shot period of time. A couple of hours. But I was think I might tell them how many points each time has at this point. So they clever might be able to go back and figure out who is who.
What do you think?

Diplomacy? Was that on the Dope? So I'm going to allow the a short period to look at what points the 4 houses have - before the game starts again. I think it's going to be really cool. Your help (and wisdom) has been great

I just had a PM from one of the players asking if (s)he could play for a certain House. This could be fun. Do you think it would be game-breaking to say that players may PM me to ask for a certain House to play for? I think it would be kind of fun... But it's close to 2 in the Night here, so my kind of fun may not work elsewhere
